Call for Nominations for CCU’s Board of Directors

Member-owned credit union offers unique opportunity to serve on Board

People trust credit unions to handle their financial needs for several reasons. Perhaps the most important reason is because Members of a credit union are also owners of that credit union. Members have a voice in the governance of their financial institution, including the opportunity to run for the credit union’s all-volunteer Board of Directors. In that spirit, Consumers Credit Union is accepting Member applications for the Board of Directors.

Members interested in applying to serve on CCU’s Board of Directors should send a statement of intent via e-mail to [email protected], or by mail to Consumers Cooperative Credit Union, Attention: Nominating Committee, 1075 Tri-State Pkwy, Gurnee, IL. 60031. Candidates must include their name, address, and daytime and evening phone numbers in order to be considered. Candidates must meet the Nomination Policy requirement of CCU which shall be provided with the Volunteer Board Member Application to be eligible. The deadline for applying is 5:00 pm (CDT) on September 16, 2022, with the election to be held at the CCU’s 2023 Annual Meeting. Those elected to the Board will serve a three (3) year term and must have the ability to attend monthly board and/or committee meetings.

“Consumers Credit Union is looking for Members with an interest for guiding the growth and future of CCU,” said Sean M. Rathjen, CCU CEO. “We have always benefited from having a diverse group of board members, each with different personal and professional experiences. This allows us to explore opportunities and challenges from several points of view, ensuring we are making the best decisions to benefit the overall membership.”

The Board of Directors are required to attend monthly meetings over the course of the year. “Our Board takes their responsibilities very seriously,” continued Rathjen.  “Their focus and insight on the operational aspects of CCU and future opportunities for growth have helped us grow and evolve since the credit union began in 1930. CCU encourages all Members to consider the opportunities that serving on Board has to offer and look forward to receiving applications from numerous qualified candidates.”
