Learning on the Job

As a Technology Apprentice, you will rotate through assignments with the Service Desk, Enterprise Systems and Infrastructure to gain hands-on experience in end-user support, systems administration and network/cybersecurity operations. You’ll be responsible for delivering reliable technology services, resolving technical issues, and supporting the secure operation of CCU’s technology environment. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to build real-world tech skills, gain hands-on experience, and set a strong foundation for your long-term career in technology.

Duties Include
  • Provide first-level technical support to end users (hardware, software, account access, connectivity)
  • Document and resolve support tickets using ITSM tools
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding, device provisioning, and asset management
  • Support administration and maintenance of business applications and enterprise systems
  • Participate in troubleshooting, patching, and system monitoring activities
  • Assist with user access management and data integrity tasks
  • Help configure, maintain, and monitor network devices, servers and storage (Windows & Linux)
  • Participate in cybersecurity initiatives, including vulnerability assessments and remediation
  • Support implementation and monitoring security controls and participate in incident response exercises
  • Maintain documentation related to IT processes, troubleshooting steps, and system configurations
  • Assist with end-user troubleshooting for digital banking, escalating complex issues to senior team members
  • Monitor and report common issues related to digital banking services, helping identify trends for proactive resolution
  • Assist in testing new digital banking features or updates in digital banking platforms before deployment, documenting results for the team
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum age of 18
  • 1+ year of work experience in technology or customer service
  • Demonstrated interest in IT through coursework, extracurriculars or personal projects
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and networking fundamentals
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to rotating assignments
  • Commitment to maintaining a minimum grade of ‘C’ in all program coursework
  • Acceptance into and full enrollment in the College of Lake County AAS Computer Information Technology – Network Administration & Cybersecurity program
