First Mortgage Recast
First Mortgage Recast & Payment Re-Amortization
A first mortgage recast (also known as payment re-amortization) may be requested after you make a substantial principal-only payment toward your first mortgage. A recast lowers your monthly principal and interest payment by recalculating the remaining balance over the existing loan term.
Note: A recast does not change your interest rate, loan term or other loan terms.
General Information
- A minimum principal-only payment of $10,000 is required to request a recast.
- Minimum principal reduction requirements may vary based on investor guidelines.
- The recast adjusts your monthly principal and interest payment based on the new loan balance.
Eligibility Requirements
- Loan Status: Your loan must be current and in good standing.
- Submission Timeline: Your written request must be submitted within 30 days of the principal-only payment.
- Fee: A recast processing fee applies. Please contact us at 866-557-5659 for current fee information.
How to Request a Recast
Step 1: Submit a Written Request
Your request must include:
- The principal paydown amount
- The date the payment was made
- Your mortgage loan number
Step 2: Choose a Submission Method
- Online Banking: Send a secure message through the Mortgage Dashboard in Digital Banking.
- Mail your written request to:
Special Products Dept/RECAST
425 Phillips Blvd
Ewing, NJ 08618 - Call us to get started 866.557.5659
