Fortune Media and Great Place To Work Name Consumers Credit Union to List of Fortune Best Workplaces for Women™ 2025
Released October 23, 2025
Lake Forest, IL – October 23, 2025: Consumers Credit Union (CCU; $4.3 Billion, Lake Forest, IL) announced today it has been named to the Best Workplaces for Women™ list for 2025 in the small and medium category by Great Place To Work® (GPTW) and Fortune Magazine.
The Best Workplaces for Women list highlights organizations that excel in creating positive, engaging and inclusive environments. The list recognizes companies for their exceptional workplace culture and employee satisfaction.
“We take enormous pride in being named as a Best Workplace for Women, because it reflects our commitment to diversity and inclusion,” said Sean Rathjen, CCU's Chief Executive Officer. “Women were instrumental in the founding of our credit union, and they continue to play invaluable roles in our ongoing growth and success.”
The organization’s roots trace back to a small group of immigrant women who, in 1910, rebelled against rising milk prices by forming a buying club to bypass dealers and purchase milk directly from farmers at lower prices. The club expanded into a co-op, which eventually grew large enough to establish its own credit union in 1930, when Consumers Credit Union was born.
This year, Consumers Credit Union was also certified as a Great Place To Work for the third consecutive year; named to the Fortune Best Workplaces - Chicago and Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance lists for the second consecutive year; and designated a Best Medium Workplace by GPTW and Fortune.
