Consumers Credit Union Gives Large Donation to Midwest Veterans Closet
Released October 31, 2023
October 31, 2023: Consumers Credit Union (CCU) recently donated $225,000 to Midwest Veterans Closet towards the building of a new, much-needed facility. Midwest Veterans Closet provides food, goods and dignity for struggling military personnel, both current and former. Few, if any, parts of the current facility have adequate space. The food pantry is not handicap accessible, and clients wait outside in bad weather. The new facility has multiple buildings and will allow Veterans Closet to move their operation out of its current leased facility, saving money. The buildings will house their office, the food pantry, clothing and household items, retail space, a commercial kitchen for the food program with vocational training for food service jobs, and much more.
"Consumers Credit Union proudly supports the communities where our members and employees live and work," said Sean Rathjen, CEO of CCU. "Midwest Veterans Closet is an invaluable resource for military personnel and their families, and we are happy to help those who serve, whether now or in the past."
