Consumers Cooperative Association 2018-2019 Scholarship

In the spirit of supporting and investing in the youth of our community, Consumers Cooperative Association is excited to announce fifteen (15) $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors entering college in the fall of 2019. 


It is estimated this application will take about an hour to complete. It is recommended that you register before starting the application. This will allow the ability to "save" the application along the way. It will also let the applicant leave the application, come back, log in, and resume completing the application.

Electronic submission of the application is encouraged however if needed a paper copy of the application, it can be downloaded by clicking the link below or a credit union representative can provide a copy.

What is the Consumers Cooperative Association Scholarship?

    (a) Consumers Cooperative Association has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors who plan to continue their education in college.  Scholarships are offered for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

    (b) $2,000 scholarship to be awarded to fifteen (15) graduating high school seniors graduating in 2019.

Eligibility:  Applicants must fulfill all the eligibility requirements: 

    (a)  Applicant or the parents/guardian must be a Member of Consumers Credit Union for a minimum of one year in good standing.

    (b)   Applicant must be a graduating high school senior in 2019

    (c)   Plan to attend an accredited 2+ year college or university for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Application Process:

    (a)  To apply, applications may be submitted electronically by completing the online form OR a paper copy can be mailed to Consumers Credit Union ATTN: Consumers Cooperative Association Scholarship Committee 1075 Tri State Parkway, Gurnee, IL. 60031.

Correspondence throughout the application process will be by email and US postal mail.  E-mail messages will be sent to the email provided in the application.  Be sure to add [email protected] to your contacts or address book and check your email regularly.

If completing the online application:

  • Enter the date in the format described.  Please use proper punctuation and standard capitalization.
  • Fields indicated with an (*) are required fields. 
  • Upload required documents prior to submitting the application.
  • Once all application requirements are satisfied carefully review your entire application before clicking the "Submit" button at the end of the application.
  • After the application is successfully submitted, no further additions or changes can be made.  You will no longer have access to your application account or data.
  • You will receive a message on the screen to acknowledge receipt of your submitted application.
  • We recommend that you print a hard copy of your application for your records.

 (b) Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore answer all questions as completely as possible.

 (c) Applications must be submitted by the deadline in order for your application to be processed.  

Required Documents, to be submitted with the application prior to 12/31/2018

    (a)  Current unofficial transcript (this will look similar or identical to an official transcript but may not have a seal or tamper-proof marks on it or be inside a sealed envelope).  Please contact your guidance counselor on obtaining this information.  In some cases, it may take 7-10 days to get this document.  Keep this in mind to meet the 12/31/18 application deadline.

    (b) Copy of your first semester grades (if available). If not, your senior year course schedule.

    (c) Photo of applicant

Application Deadline: 

    (a) Your application must be submitted by December 31, 2018 by 11:59 p.m. CST (Central Standard Time)

Selection:

    (a) Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of community involvement, school involvement, work             experience, academic performance, essay, and financial need. 

    (b) Selection of recipients is made by the Consumers Cooperative Association Scholarship Committee.  In no          instance does any officer or employee of Consumers Credit Union play a part in the selection.  All                    applicants agree to accept the decision as final. 

Notification

               (a) Recipients will be notified by February 20, 2019.  Not all applicants will be selected as recipients. 

Payment of Scholarship

               (a) Scholarships will be paid by the Consumers Cooperative Association.  The payment is made in one                              installment. A check is made payable to the student’s school and mailed to each recipient’s home address. 

Obligations

                (a) Recipients have no obligation to the Consumers Cooperative Association.  They are however required to                      notify the scholarship committee of any changes in address, school enrollment, or other relevant information. 

    (b) Winners may be asked to provide a photo for publication on the Consumers Cooperative Association’s website.  Photo is non-returnable

    (c) Winners must notify the Scholarship Committee of the school you will be attending no later than July 1, 2019.

Revisions

                (a) Consumers Cooperative Association reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this                         scholarship program and to make changes at any time including termination of the program.
