Consumers Cooperative Association Announces Winners of 16- $2,0000 Scholarships

Gurnee, IL, March 26, 2019: Consumers Cooperative Association (CCA), the sponsor of Consumers Credit Union (CCU, $1.3 Billion, Waukegan, IL) awarded 16 – $2,000.00 scholarships last week at their 49th Annual Meeting at Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee. The recipients, all high school seniors, are able to use their scholarships at the college or university of their choice.

“Consumers Cooperative Association is excited to announce our 16 scholarship winners,” according to Kathleen Crews, CCA President. “We had an outstanding group of applicants again this year, making the selection process more difficult than ever. The Scholarship Committee is confident that our winners will go on to great things as they pursue their future. Consumers Cooperative Association is proud to support these students as they take steps towards becoming our leaders of tomorrow.”

A key statistic from this year’s applicants was that the majority of the applications were received Online, creating an opportunity for students throughout the United States to apply. In fact, New Jersey joined Illinois and Wisconsin as the three states with the largest number of applications. The 16 winners came from 14 different high schools.

All applications were reviewed by Consumers Cooperative Association’s Board Scholarship Committee, led by Julie Jenkins. Applicants were evaluated based on academic performance, financial need and leadership abilities, including community involvement. To be eligible, applicants must be on track to graduate by June 2019. “A big ‘thank you’ to Our Scholarship Committee for another outstanding job evaluating the applications,” said Crews.
